Ahhh! I forgot how good this side of a marathon finish line feels - no wonder these things are addicting! lol Life has been soooo good this week :) Makes me want to start singing...
Congrats to everyone on their PRs! I am totally jealous. Hope everyone has been recovering well :)
Today was my first run post-marathon. Monday and Tuesday weren't too bad. Randomly having a leg give out while walking or cramping up in the middle of class are always fun lol Wednesday I was able to go downstairs normally instead of sideways (very nice since I live on the 3rd floor). Yesterday and today I felt pretty normal, but I've learned to take things carefully after my over-use injuries in 2006. So I waited until today and did just one very easy mile. I felt good, a little tired but I could have kept going. Tomorrow's 2 miles with a short bike ride. Then Sunday is the Re-run Run 5k.
Now that the marathon is done, I'm in need of focusing on getting back into the gym for cross training and getting back to a healthy weight. Yeah, technically I'm within a good BMI, but I don't feel good about myself and I'm not used to be this heavy. None of my summer clothes fit and I refuse to buy bigger sizes. I've already lost about 4 pounds since Monday. I know some of that was water weight from carb-loading, but it's amazing what happens when you stop eating ice cream sundaes for dinner and sausage bagel sandwiches for breakfast lol I still have about 10-15 to get back to my normal weight.
I'm also proud to announce: I'm officially Maniac #923! I qualified as a Marathon Maniac back in 2006 with the Timberline and Portland marathons, but for some reason, just put off finishing my application. Yay!
