Not too much going this weekend. Both Chris and I have been pretty lazy and the holiday didn't help much.
We had friends over Thursday night for some BBQ and MarioKart Wii action. I was border-line OCD with making sure that all hard surfaces got wiped down, using meat thermometers, double-hand washing, put the raw meat at the bottom of the fridge, ect. Chris keeps teasing me because I'm so paranoid about getting sick again lol
For the 4th, we slept in and went out to a late movie. The Hulk was much better than I thought it would be. Usually if a main character is CGI, the movie is awful and should be avoided at all costs (all I have to say is Jar Jar Binks). But this time it was fairly believable and Edward Norton did a really good job. After the movie, we rode our bikes downtown to watch fireworks. We found a spot on the bridge with a good view of the fireworks, and afterwards we were able to just hop on our bikes and ride away instead of fighting traffic. Pretty sweet.
In some crappy news, my new swim suit isn't going to be. It's sold out in my size, so I either need to order a different suit or order it in a size smaller. But this means that I have more money to spend. I recently found out there's a new shop in Corvallis just for tri gear called Northwest Multisports. I've been wanting to order an actual tri suit, but since I've never had one and know pretty much nothing about them, I was leary of ordering something online. I'm hoping they'll have something to try on or at least some advice about what to choose.
I've been getting a little better in the pool. By leaning back a little further until the water is just to my goggles, I'm now able to flutter kick on my back and actually get across the pool. That's pretty big for me. Not too long ago I would just bob side to side when we'd do flutter kick drills with the kick boards in swim class. So forward movement is very good :) I'm still trying to figure out arms and legs at the same time, but every little bit helps. There's a chance I'm not going to drown in the Willamette after all lol
